Little Drummer Boys

What gathering of 3-year-old boys is complete without some rocking around the Christmas tree? The boys all rocked out and paraded around together at our playgroup's annual Christmas fun get-together.

Yuletide Tidying

Last night my little helper and I put the lights on the tree together, while listening to Beck and assorted early 90's (maybe even some late 80's) music. This involved his favorite thing--outlets, plugs and electricity. We untangled "wreaths" of lights and checked to see if they worked. He was so excited to be a part of it all. It sure made a mundane task at best, @#*$ annoying task at worst, fun and interesting!

Long story (and involving our cat and our adopted bird), but our iPod docking station is on his little play table 'til we find a new home for it. Last night, he goes over, turns off the stereo receiver and turns on the iPod while it's docked. (He loves my 80's music!) Ok, I'm not the oldest person to have an iPod, but it took me a while to figure out how to turn it on. And mine is about 4 years old--so the dials and buttons are even more obscure, especially on an all-white background.

I'm fast-forwarding to a Christmas wish list, oh maybe next year. Instead of "red moving van" or "red scooter" I think an iPod will be topping it. He's already putting together his playlist. We can make a theme of his Christmas wish with various accessories: They now have pillows and chairs in the Pottery Bark Kids catalog with built-in iPod docking capability. Which is good, because when you come in from the Tot Lot and have to take off your BabyGap coat in size 3T with the MP3 player pocket stitched in, you'll need a place to dock that bad boy.

No self-esteem issues here

The following conversation sums it up nicely.

Me: I love you.

J: I love myself, too.
